Five persons were said to have been killed in Ibadan , Oyo State , during a clash between butchers at the Bodija International Market and police on Thursday . Goods said to worth millions of naira was reportedly destroyed in the clash . Some butchers , who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity , alleged that five people were killed by the police in the clash . “We were shot by the police while trying to protect our business . They wanted to force us out of the market which is not fair . We were peaceful but they shot at us , ” one of the butchers said . Iyamu charged each of her victims Euro 30,000 and Euro 38,000 to arrange for their travel to Europe, profiting from more than Euro 15,000 from one victim alone via wire transfers and cash payments. The death toll in the Plateau massacre could have risen up if not for the kind and timely intervention of an Imam in Inghar Yerwa village. According to BBC, men and women in the 11 communities that were attacked, took to their heels with their children to the neighboring communities for safety. While they were running, the Imam saw them and decided to open his home so they can hide from their attackers. He kept the men in the mosque while the women and children he kept in his home. The attackers came to the Imam and asked him to surrender those that were Christians he was hiding but he lied to them that no Christian was in his home. The Lagos commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, Hyginus Omeje, says nine persons were burnt beyong recognition in the petrol tanker explosion that occured at Otedola bridge in Lagos this evening. He said 54 vehicles were also burnt in the inferno and that efforts to remove the damaged vehicles to open up the road is still ongoing. At least 30 cars were burnt when a fuel tanker exploded along Otedola bridge on Lagos-Ibadan expressway this evening. Some sources say the cars affected were over 50. Lives were also lost but the number of casualties cannot be determined at the moment. Videos shared online shows the extent of the damage done by the explosion. The Plateau state command says the death toll in the Plateau massacre that happened over the weekend, has risen to 100. On Sunday June 25th, the command had put the death toll at 86 but this has been disputed by residents of the state who put the figure at over 200, comprising mainly of women and children. The Police in Jigawa have recovered the corpse of a 20-year-old housewife near a bush in Dutse Local Government Area of the state. Police Spokesman in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday. Jinjiri said the remains of the deceased, who was identified as Sahura Shuaibu, was recovered at about 9 p.m. in Bukki village on Sunday, June 24. “On June 24 at about 8 a.m., a report was received by the Police in Dutse from one Musa Ado of Warwade village that one Sahura Shuaibu aged 20, was found dead in a nearby bush in Bukki village of Dutse Local Government Area,” Jinjiri said. He explained that the deceased was suspected to have been killed by her 30-year-old husband, Mr Shuaibu Haro. The Nigeria Police ‘B’ Division in Warri, Delta State has nabbed five suspected car thieves who specializes in car snatching in Warri and its environs. The names of the suspects were given as: Otite Efemena, Ochuko Ejiata, Oteme Ogbemigeye, and Ojdyewe Oghenetaga.
