There was an expression of amazement on Ellen's face after hearing Juliet last statement. So she quit untying her shoe lace and stared at her. "That reminds me, i hardly see you with boys. Somedays you disappear during break period" she said to the hearing of Juliet who paid a deaf ear. "Are you angry at me?" she added yet Juliet didn't say a word. So she stood up, walked to her, sat beside her and placed her hand on her shoulder saying, "Sorry nah, i was only joking. Guess what? Nath is actually the cause of my smile"

At that point, Juliet began to smile "You should know i just came into this school this term so i don't know the boys like that. Not seeing me them doesn't mean i don't like boys, i just prefer.. i prefer staying alone" she said.

"Wow, Okay oh!" Ellen stood up then began to take off her clothes which Juliet put much enthusiasm. "So tell me about your former school" she asked

"Nothing much, it's also a girl's boarding school" Juliet replied then tranquility took over. "You and Nath are back again abi" she changed the topic.

"Yes, that's why I'm happy" Ellen replied.

"That shows love"

"You've started again with your love matter"

"It's obvious u love him. Stop denying it"

Ellen walked back to the seat with a fruit. "Yes, I've admitted it, i love Nath. I feel happy whenever I'm with him" she said.

"Wow!" Juliet exclaimed. "Now the truth is coming out. So tell him" she suggested.

"What?! No way!"

"Why?"

"Do u realise I'm a girl?"

"It's no big deal"

"Don't even go there coz i can never approach a guy first" Ellen concluded.

THE NEXT DAY AT ASSS

The bright morning sun gradually began to come out as students also arrived at school. The senior prefect monitored them from an open space. As he stood there with hands inside his pockets, Ellen passed.

"Ellen!" he called then she stopped and turned back. "Are we quarreling?" he asked.

"No, good morning" Ellen replied.

"You look good today"

"Thank you" Ellen wanted to walk out but he interrupted her again.

"Can we see during break period?"

"Why?"

"You'll get to know. Please don't say no"

"Alright" Ellen finally walked out.

After that, a voice came from behind. Simeon recognised it to be Cent's, so he turned.

"Star Boy"

"Head-boy, the name is not complete" Cent stood beside him rudely.

"What's the full name?" Simeon asked.

"It's Star the ASSS Boy" Cent replied then Simeon smiled.

"Be careful boy" he said.

"Head-boy" Cent began seriously. "It seems like you have interest in Ellen but be careful because is like you are late"

"What do you mean?"

"It seems like Nath is already in the picture. But don't worry, if you cooperate with me, i will make her leave Nath and follow you"

Simeon smiled. "What are you talking about?"

Cent stood before him, touched his chest hardly like a bad boy and said, "If you don't concor with what i said then leave it" he placed his hands in his pocket and bounced out.

The assembly was due. Students gathered on the assembly ground, yet, Peace hadn't seen Kennedy. She kept stretching her head looking at every angle for him. When she saw Nath on the boys' line, she hurried to him and said, "Good morning, Nath. Please, have you seen Kennedy?"

"He's still on his way i think" Nath replied.

"Okay"

"Any problem?"

"No" Peace shook her head negatively and went back to her line.

The assembly ended peacefully except that Peace didn't get to see Kennedy. Even when students entered into their classrooms, he was nowhere to be found. Distance vehicles and voices of the JSS1 students downstairs reciting a poem could be heard from science classroom. The classroom was quiet due to the presence of Mr Jumbo who was writing a chemistry note on the board. As Nath wondered why Kennedy was not yet in school, so as Peace wondered restless too. She kept glancing at the door occasionally hoping to see him.

"Look at what you have caused now" Olivia who sat beside her whispered. "Maybe is because of what you did to Kennedy that made him not to come to school today" she added.

Peace stared at her. The statement made her feel more guilty and increased her anticipations of seeing Kennedy. So she averted her eyes from her and stared at the door again. When she couldn't bear it anymore, she stood up and walked towards the door.

"Livinus, where are u heading to?" Mr Jumbo asked.

"To the rest room, sir" Peace replied.

The rest room was upstairs so she didn't need to go downstairs. Her purpose of going out was not to use the room but to check if she could see Kennedy coming. As she looked at the school environment through the half-wall, she saw an expensive car that drove in. Surprisingly, she saw Kennedy and a man that resembles him coming out from it. "That could be his father" she thought. Just as she was contemplating, Kennedy and his father walked towards the principal's office. "What's going on?" she murmured in fear.

Episode 12

Peace had to leave the half-wall back to her classroom without even using the rest room again. Her curiosity to see Kennedy dwindled but fear gripped into her because she didn't know why he had to come to school with his father. So she managed to hold herself and concentrated on the chemistry note which Mr Jumbo had completed standing at the door and looking at all the students one by one.

"Where is Anthony?" he asked but nobody answered. All seemed more interested on the note. So Mr Jumbo walked to the front of the classroom and ordered them to stop writing. "Anuma, where is Anthony?" he asked again.

"I don't know sir" Nath replied.

"Alright, listen up. We are having our next practically in two days time so study the note and get prepared, understood?"

"Yes, sir!" the student chorused.

After Mr Jumbo left, Kennedy walked inside with his bag hanging on one of his shoulders. Some students like Olivia, Nath, Ellen and especially Peace were concerned while some didn't care as he stopped at Nath's locker.

"Guy, what happened?" Nath asked looking at him from his seat.

Kennedy exhaled deeply, placed one of his hands on his locker and said, "It was an immagency bro. I had to rush to the bank to withdrew money for my mum coz she didn't have the time"

"Is okay, you only missed a period which the note is still on the board" Nath shook his hand then Kennedy glanced at the board. In the process, his eyes caught with Ellen's and they waved at each other.

Meanwhile, Peace had been glancing at Kennedy. She couldn't look at him steadily or know how to approach him for the unexpected help he rendered to her then also to apologise for her previous actions.

Kennedy began to walk to his seat, his eyes caught with Peace's but both averted them instantly. Olivia didn't care, rather brought out her novel to read. As if she was touched, she closed the novel swiftly and said, "Peace, why don't you want to thank Kennedy?"

"I don't know how to approach him" Peace replied bitterly.

"You can just go now"

Peace glanced at Kennedy who was seriously writing a note. He looked more handsome than before to her eyes. She faced Olivia again saying, "I'll do that during break period"

"It's your business" Olivia concluded and resumed her initial position.

**

BREAK PERIOD

Students were going out which Juliet was among minding her business. She hardly laugh or associate with anybody especially boys. Just at the door, she bumped on Cent.

"Hey, watch where you are going!" she shouted.

"I should be telling you that, witch!" Cent backfired.

"Just get lost!" Juliet ignored him.

"Just be found coz you're already lost" Cent also ignored her and moved on.

Nath and Kennedy were found on the assembly ground as usual. They had the same height and  sitting position: legs in a triangular form with arms placed on their thighs like smart boys. The edge of their black belt could be seen by the side of their waist. Suddenly, Peace came from behind and said, "Hi"

The two boys glanced back and Kennedy put his face down while Nath's remained up smiling at her.

"Hi, Peace" he said then stood up. "I guess i have to leave now" he added.

"But why?" Peace and Kennedy asked at the same time then glanced at each other.

"Let me meet Ellen" Nath replied. He shook Kennedy's hand and left.

Silence took over between Peace and Kennedy. She gently sat beside him with her legs properly closed unlike Kennedy's.

"Hey" she broke the silence.

"Hi, Peace" Kennedy replied.

"Nath told me.."

"About the assignment?" Kennedy interrupted.

"Yes, thank you very much"

"Is okay" he glanced at her.

"Sorry also for what i did to you"

"Don't worry" Kennedy smile at her. "Are you hungry?" he changed the topic immediately.

"What?" Peace let out a smile too.

"Just stay here" Kennedy ran out. He bought two snacks and came back immediately then Peace became surprise. He sat down after handing it to her.

"Why buying a snack for me?"

"Nothing, I'm just happy"

"Why?" Peace smiled staring at him as she opened the snack.

"Coz of your presence"

"How"

"You carry happiness with you everywhere you go" Kennedy replied jokingly and laughed.

"You're not serious!" Peace concluded giggling then both became quiet. "I saw your father today" she broke the silence.

"You did?" Kennedy looked at her in surprise.

"Yes, do you want to change school?"

"No, he came to apeal to the principal to pardon me for coming late"

"But why did you come late?"

"My i was sent to an erran" Kennedy replied then Peace exhaled happily.

**

Inside the quiet hostel, Juliet was seen in her room all alone half naked wearing only her skirt without a bra. As she moved to and fro in the room as if she was losing her mind, Olivia entered and locked the door.

"You wasted time" she said walking closer to Olivia. "What took u so long?" she added.

"I went to.."

"Just forget it" Juliet interrupted and held her shirt to unbutton it..
