UNIILORIN emerges most subscribed institution for the fourth consecutive time

The University of Ilorin has for the fourth consecutive year maintained its status as the most subscribed university by admission seekers from 2014 to 2017.
Prof. Musa Yusuf, the Director of the Computer Services and Information Technology Centre (COMSIT) , of the University, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday.
He said that more than 104,000 candidates picked the University as their preferred institution.
Yusuf, who is also the administrator of the post- Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening of the institution explained, that for the past four years, Unilorin has consistently emerged as  most subscribed University in Nigeria.
He explained that out of the 104,000 candidates, 59,045 scored 180 and above in the UTME, qualifying them for the screening, which is the last stage of the admission process.

Cult group clash in Cross Rivers, 3 dead, DPO shot

Three persons have been reportedly killed in the renewed cult clash in Ogep-Osokom in Boki local government area of Cross River State. The clash between two rivalry cult groups, klans and Axe continued Friday morning in Ogep-Osokom.it was  gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area who went to the scene to possibly stop the clash was also shot. The DPO sustained serious injury and was rushed to an undisclosed health institution in the State. Other victims who were also shot are also obtaining treatment in different locations in the area. An eyewitness said that over three persons were shot to death. “We wake up this morning to hear gunshot everywhere and some persons rushed and informed the Police. The DPO and others came with a view to salvaging the situation and stop the clash, but this was not possible. “In the process, our DPO was shot on the head. He narrowly escaped death.
